Woods' article 'How Trade hurt Unskilled Workers' provides empirical evidence linking the effect of trade with the labour market and wage inequality. He aims to disprove the theory that many economists have that trade has not largely affected wage inequality. He also discusses how technology can be linked to the trade argument as improved technology has led to more efficient communication and transport systems which in turn has led to increasing trade. The focus of this paper is on how developed countries have been affected, however other works of Wood can be explored where he investigates how developing countries are affected.
